[Feature Request] Allow major (labeled) ticks to be longer than minor (normal) ticks #732
Allow the ticks associated with major (labeled) values to be longer than the minor (normal/unlabeled) ticks on axes. This would let charts visually emphasize labeled ticks by making those marks longer than regular ticks, via API options such as set_major_tick_length() or a similar method for mesh/axes.
(Optional) Why this feature is useful and how people would use the feature ?
Many plotting libraries allow for major (labeled) ticks to be longer than minor ones, improving plot readability and making it easier to distinguish between them at a glance. Currently, Plotters sets tick size per axis side but does not distinguish visually between labeled and unlabeled ticks. This feature is important for presentation-quality graphics and closer compatibility with plotting conventions from other libraries like Matplotlib, Matlab, etc.
(Optional) Additional Information
Workarounds currently require manual drawing of ticks. A built-in API to control major tick length independently would be appreciated.
