Cannot update project lifecycle on project created from template

I could reproduce the problem in the latest build

What happened?

If a project is created from a project template, trying to update its lifecycle on the Project Settings page doesn't work. The option is available and the UI page saves and produces no errors, but the setting remains unchanged.

Reproduction

1. Add a project from a project template. Note that the "Add New Project" wizard will provide the option to select a lifecycle here.
2. Once the templated project is created, go to Project Settings and attempt to change the Lifecycle setting, and click "Save".
3. The page saves without giving any errors, but the project lifecycle remains unchanged even on refresh. API request from this page confirms that the new lifecycle is sent in the POST request to update the project, but the response still gives the old lifecycle ID.
